  1. Medical Imaging THE CAREER WITH MULTIPLE FIELDS By, Mariah Sacre

  2. Medical Imaging (and its multiple fields)

  3. Radiology • Uses electromagnetic radiation to measure density of bone tissue • A type of ionizing radiation is used, which makes taking x-rays more dangerous to one’s health. • Lead blankets are used for protection from the x-radiation.

  4. Magnetic Resonance Imaging • Process of using magnets to draw out hydrogen nuclei in water molecules. • Uses 3 electromagnetic radiation fields to conduct image: • very strong static magnetic field • weak time-varying field • weaker radio-frequency field

  5. Computed Tomography Scans • Process of taking images in sections or slices • Risks include radiation poisoning • Similar to CAT scans

  6. Sonography • Process of using high frequency sound waves to conduct an image • Generally used on pregnant mothers’ wombs for pictures of fetuses • Also used for other organs of the body • Much smaller health risk factor- becoming more in-demand
