  2. First of all, Congratulations for completing Engineering !

  3. Congratulations for becoming an Engineer !

  4. Confused ?!

  5. Quality of Engineering & Importance of Project work Presentation By: G NATA RAJU – 11031D6427

  6. Engineering in INDIA • India is the second largest Education market of the world • India has around  370 universities and 18000 colleges out of which 115 universities and 2,100 colleges teach various engineering disciplines. • With 12 millionstudents on their rolls, and half a million teachers teaching in all disciplines.

  7. How are we growing ?! • Engineering colleges in the country have been growing at 20per cent a year.

  8. Where do we stand ? • Engineering education is expanding but quality engineers aren’t being produced by them. • The quality of engineering dished out. • It can be judged from the scenario that the percentage of ready-to-deploy engineers for IT jobs is dismally low at 2.68per cent**. ** According to the National Employability Report of Engineering Graduates done by Aspiring Minds

  9. ….Continue • Among five lakh engineers: • Only 17.45 per cent are employable for the IT services sector • A dismal 3.51 per cent are appropriately trained to be directly deployed on projects • Only 2.68 per cent are employable in IT product companies, which require greater understanding of Computer science and algorithms.

  10. ….Continue • The National Employability Report too says concentrating on increasing quantity has impacted quality drastically. • It was found that employability decreases logarithmically with the number of colleges in the state. • It means opening more colleges is directly impacting the percentage of employable engineers graduating every year.

  11. Why ?! • Majority colleges don’t posses the academic and administrative infrastructure and also make no efforts to improve it. • Insufficient qualified teaching staff. • More harm has done to the students while the managements made tons of money cashing in on the craze.

  12. Importance of Project Work

  13. Do you remember ?!

  14. What should be a project ?! • Project work may not be a new innovation. • It can be a new application using the existing methods/resources. • But the idea should come from you • Students should have zeal and passion to achieve something

  15. The Student should think of ideas.. • Which connect to EVERYDAY life • Which break down barriers • Understand infinite possibilities

  16. Why so Important ? • To get good marks • To feel satisfied and Self - Esteem • To acquire engineering skills • To implement what you have learned • As a small stone in building a developed country INDIA.
