Information Formats • Print format – books, journals 5,410 titles of books; 10,934 volume • Non print format- digital databases, e-books, audiotapes, DVD, CD ROM. 595 titles of e-books 16 subscribed electronic databases e.g. Business Source Complete- >7,000 titles; Ebrary- 30,000 titles of books

  6. Students’ Library Privileges • Undergraduate - 2 books from the General Collections for 2 weeks • Graduate - 5 books from the General Collections for 30 days • Unlimited access to MyDigital Library • Computer facility • Inter-library Loan & Document Delivery Services

  7. Library Computers • How to register? Sign-in at your RO Circulation Desk • Not permitted to store any software or other data on the hard drives or alter the programmes installed on the systems. • Not to be used for chatting, instant messaging, game playing and viewing pornography.

The call number is generally taped to the bottom of the spine of each book or in the case of “thin” book, at the bottom left hand corner of the book

  12. Patron Profile- MyLibrary account Patron can check - full personal record, account information (fines & penalty fees) & loan activity Borrower’s Full record

  13. Renewals • Renewals are processed in person or electronically • 1 online renewal allowed for students • Materials held or recalled for another patron may not be renewed • Media ResourcesVideos and DVDs may not be renewed

  15. Fines • 20 cents per day per book • For a lost book – total overdue fines + current cost of the book + RM25.00 per volume as processing fee • RM50.00 for lost ID card

  16. How can I search MyDigital Library? • Bringing the library to you. Our way of reducing disadvantages faced by ODL students • Consist of e-databases, e-journals & e-books subscribed by the Library • Access 24/7 • Restricted to WOU students, staff & tutors

  18. Access to MyDigital Library Single password/sign-on (SSO) – A mechanism whereby a single action of user authentication and authorization can permit a user to access all computers and systems where he has access permission, without the need to enter multiple passwords

Direction to use is provided in the Course material • Past examination papers Examination papers are available for all courses except for Multiple Choice type question papers

  27. Capturing electronic information Common ways include: • printing • copying and pasting • downloading to disk • forwarding to an e-mail account • Procedures vary depending on which database your are using and how you are accessing it. Consult the online help for further information
