  5. Flat numbers A new block of flats has been built with 100 flats. Dave has to paint the numbers from 1 to 100 on the doors. How many times will he have to paint the number 9?

  6. Sudoku Every row, column and mini-grid must contain the numbers 1 to 4. Don’t guess – work it out!

  18. The fox, the hen and the grain You are at a river with a fox, a hen and a bag of grain. You have to cross the river in your canoe but you can only take one thing with you at a time. You can’t leave the hen with the grain, he’ll eat it; you can’t leave the fox with the hen, he’ll eat it. How do you get everything across without anything being eaten?
