  1. GLASS LINED FLUSH BOTTOM VALVES GLASS LINED FLUSH BOTTOM VALVES May 27, 2021 Category: Blog Many pharmaceutical production processes require glass-lined equipment for the manufacturing of specialty chemicals and polymers. Glass-lined products provide a one-stop solution for high-quality operations. It is comparatively easy to ensure safety when producing very special surface protection for valves. Basic components used in the production process include quarts, feldspar, sodium carbonate, metal oxides, etc. The final resistance of the lining against corrosion and other contamination will depend on the proportions included during the manufacturing process. These substances are processed in several stages before they attain the final product. Benefits of using Glass-lined flush bottom valves: Corrosion resistance: Glass-lined flush bottom valves are corrosion resistant which prevents corrosion of equipment from chemicals like acids, alkalis, water, etc. as they pass through. Degradation of equipment material will affect the pressure within which can lead to failure. Contamination resistance: Besides corrosion resistance, glass lining will protect contamination of chemicals from dissolved metals or alloys from the compromised parts materials. Glass lining can naturally prevent cross-contamination since the surface does not affect the taste, colour, or clarity of the contents of the device. Longer service life: Glass-lined flush bottom valves have a longer service life in harsh environments where unlined equipment will be put out of service rapidly.

  2. Easy to clean: Glass-lined flush bottom valves are easier to clean than unlined flush bottom valves. Glass wetted surface is highly polished so it is easy to clean with many substances including steam. Thermal shock resistance: Glass-lined flush bottom valves are impervious to thermal shock resistance. This indicates that it can withstand rapid and significant changes in temperature. The evaluation is carried out in the laboratory by heating items in an oven and then immersing them in cold water. Well-designed glass lining can stand temperatures as low as -75°C. The only exception is the high-temperature range in hydrofluoric acid and other caustic solutions. Electrical insulation: Glass is inherently insulated against electricity; it is also immune to galvanic corrosion. With this property, it is qualified to be used in nuclear technology. In the nuclear industry, organic insulators are unable to meet taxing requirements. On the other hand, glass-lined products like flush bottom valves can provide the necessary protection. Metals are impervious to various corrosions like pitting, intercrystalline, crevice, and contact corrosion. Contagion resistance: Glass-lined equipment is very useful for preventing pathological infections as it is easy to keep germ-free. This is a major advantage while processing medicines, food, etc.

  3. This has been confirmed by comparative studies of different materials. The glass lining shows the best effect in suppressing the microorganisms in the microbial pollution caused by nature and man-made. Also, glass-lined equipment and components are ideal for biotechnology applications. Semiconductor industries are attracting towards glass-lined products more and more these days as well. Glass-lined equipment can meet high standards of contamination levels. These products will keep impurities found in contents below the prescribed part-per-billion level. Use Glass-lined flush bottom valves instead of unlined flush bottom valves. Though they are expensive they provide longer service life than un-lined equipment.
