  2. Warm up • Characterize how Lennox and the lord he speaks to in 3.6 are feeling about Macbeth’s rule. Among other parts of the scene. consider how they talk about Macduff, and their descriptions of Banquo,

  3. Today’s activities • Warm up • Collect act 3 questions • Read 4.1 with apparitions chart • Rehearsals • HW:Booktalk 4/28

  4. Preview the scene • Read the summary at the beginning of the scene to get a sense of the overall events, then read through the scene aloud • Assign roles and read the scene aloud. If you there are words or phrases you don’t understand, talk them over in your group so that you’re clear about what they mean. • Fill outthe chart on the next screen for your assigned apparition • Report out your analysis of your groups’ apparition. While other groups report, take note of their apparitions and complete the chart.

  6. Scene 4.1 • Why does the scene begin with a long rhyming chant around the cauldron? Is this significant and if so why? • How does Macbeth demand predictions from the witches? What does this reveal about his state of mind? • What does Macbeth learn from the four apparitions? How does Macbeth react? • In Macbeth’s final words at the end of the scene, what plans does he commit himself to for the future (the rest of the play)? How might these plans backfire

  7. Rehearsal time • Be up on your feet moving through the scenes. Take note of important actions, emotions, etc.. • Start working hard on memorization
