  2. 8 So Abram said to Lot, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers. 9 Is not the whole land before you? Let's part company. If you go to the left, I'll go to the right; if you go to the right, I'll go to the left." Gen 13:8-9

  3. Abraham gave up his “rights” to have first choice, and God rewarded him for his faith

  4. 10 Lot looked up and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan was well watered… 14The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. Gen 13:10-16

  5. Lot looked, and he saw the land Abraham looked, and he saw God’s promise God looked, and He saw Abraham’s faith

  6. 11 The four kings seized all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food; then they went away. 12 They also carried off Abram's nephew Lot and his possessions, since he was living in Sodom. Gen 14:11-12

  7. Abraham has a right to safety and comfort, but he was willing to risk his life for Lot

  8. 18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, 19 and he blessed Abram, saying, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. 20 And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand." Gen 14:18-20

  9. God will never forget the goodness that we show to others Heb 6:10

  10. 22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have raised my hand to the LORD, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, and have taken an oath 23 that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the thong of a sandal, so that you will never be able to say, 'I made Abram rich.' 24 I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share that belongs to the men who went with me-to Aner, Eshcol and Mamre. Let them have their share." Gen 14:22-24

  11. Abraham has a right to demand for payment, but he resolved not to accept human rewards

  12. After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” Gen 15:1

  13. Human rewards has temporal value Divine rewards has eternal value

  14. Abraham waived his right to first choice of the land (13:8-9) Abraham waived his right to comfort and safety (14:13-17) Abraham refused to accept human rewards (14:22-24) God promised a land for him and his offspring (13:10-16) God sent Melchizedek to bless him (14:18-19) God said to him, “I am your reward.” (15:1) Human Rights, Divine Rewards
