  2. Welcome Back IMPORTANT UPDATES Monday, January 21, 2013 – No SchoolMartin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Re-Surfacing the entire School & Parking Lots and Curb Painted Red. This entire process will take 3 - 4 weeks. Flu-Symptoms to Watch For: fever (usually high) severe aches and pains in the joints and muscles and around the eyes generalized weakness ill appearance with warm, flushed skin red, watery eyes headache dry cough sore throat and watery discharge from your nose

  3. Project Ujima 101 Project Ujima 101: An African American Perspective This introductory class for parents will explore the meaning, goals, and services provided by Project Ujima. Learn what you can do to help increase your child’s academic performance. Learn how to navigate the school system so that your student will be more successful in school. Learn strategies to help promote positive social behavior.

  4. Foundation Fundraisers • Walk-a-thon Friday, April 19, 2013 • Annual Foundation Fundraiser at a Little Italy Restaurant(Funding many of the School Programs throughout the year)

  5. New Children’s Museum “Super Hero Me” New program being piloted by 3rd Grade Students of WES with the focus of Recycling and the Environment. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, 3rd Grade Students will begin the program with a Field Trip to the New Children’s Museum. The follow-up to the field trip is 2 Teaching Artists will come to the classroom to further introduce Character Development and Story Board Frames.

  6. Kaiser Bi-Lingual Parent Workshop Thursday, January 31, 2013 8:15 – 9:00am Washington Elementary School Library Presentation given in English and Spanish The focus is the importance of reading and how to improve reading of your student.

  7. Pacific Beach Middle School • 8:30 – 9:00am • 4th & 5th Grade Students and Parents
