Borundanga

Aka Scopolamine

What is Scopolamine?

  • Derived from Hyoscyamusniger

  • Also known asLevo-duboisine, Hyoscineor burundaga.

  • Muscarinic Receptor-Blocker like Atropine, both are belladonna Alkaloids

  • MOA: Reversible, nonselective blockade of muscarinic receptors

  • What’s the difference between Atropine and Scopolamine?????

Origins of Zombies

  • Ancient tribal lords when they died were to be buried with their wives. How do you convince someone to willingly walk into a grave and be buried alive?

  • Real life zombie drug and in fact the indirectly responsible for the Zombies we have come to know and love on our TV screens.

Uses by the CIA, KGB & Big Brother

  • Initially used with morphine and chloroform to induce a “twilight sleep” during childbirth.

  • 1922, Robert House tested scopolamine on 2 criminals who’s guilt was assured. Under the drug both men denied guilt and upon trial were later found not guilty. He concluded patients under scopolamine “cannot create a lie…” (origin of the “truth serum”)

“Devil’s bReath” + off-label Use

Loss of ‘free will’

  • Selective effect on memory, whilst leaving other mental functions alone

  • Affects the amygdala, pacifying effect
