  1. Setup forLAUSDnet By Susana Herrera, TLCG Advisor

  2. Desktop • Find the My Computer icon on your desktop • Double click on the icon to open it

  3. My Computer • Double click on • Dial-up Networking

  4. Dial-up Networking • Double click on the Make New Connection icon

  5. Make New Connection • Type in LAUSDnet on the line that says My Connection • Click on Configure

  6. Modem Properties • Will show Comm Port • Will show max modem speed….should be 115000 • Click on Connection tab

  7. Modem Properties • Data bits 8 • Parity none • Stop bits 1 • Click on Advanced

  8. Advanced Connection Settings • Check mark in UseError Control • Check mark in Compress Data • Check mark in Flow Control • Dot in Hardware (RTC/CTS) • Click on OK once Back to previous window • Click on Next

  9. Make New Connection • Type in Number of Computer you want to call • (213) 626-7437 Downtown LA • (818) 708-7638 San Fernando Valley Area • (818) 265-9839 Sunland-Tujunga Area • (310) 808-8887 Gardena-San Pedro Area • (310) 284-8988 West LA Area • Click on Next

  10. Make New Connection • You are almost done • Click on Finish

  11. Dial-up Networking • Click once on the connection icon you just completed • Use Right mouse button and click icon

  12. Click on Properties on the drop down menu

  13. Insure that information is correct • Click on Server Types tab

  14. Make sure PPP.Internet…….is selected. • Check marks in Logon and Enable software compression only • Check mark in TCP/IP • Click on TCP/IP SettingsButton

Click on Server assigned IP address • Click on Specify name server address • In the Primary DNS type in the numbers 192.215.166.34 • In the Secondary DNS type in the numbers 192.215.166.9 • Insure that zeros are in Primary Wins and Secondary Wins • Make sure that only Use Default gateway has checkmark • Click OK Twice

  16. DONE!! At Last with setting up the telephone • Right click on Make shortcut on drop down menu • Answering Yes to message will place an icon on your desktop

  17. Open Control Panel • Double click on My Computer icon • Double click on the Control Panel icon

  18. Find Network Double click on the Network icon

  19. Click and highlight TCP/IP Dial up Adapter • Click on Properties • Click OK

  20. Gateway Tab • Select the Gateway tab • Enter the following numbers 192.215.166.1 • Click Add • Click on the DNS Configuration Tab

  21. DNS Configuration Tab • Select Enable DNS • In the Host box, type in LAUSDnet • In the Domain box, type in lausd.k12.ca.us all lower case • In the DNS Search Order type in the following numbers 192.215.166.34 • Click Add • Type in 192.215.166.9 • Click Add • In the Domain Suffix Search Order type us • Click Add • Click OK again • Click Ok to restart your computer

  22. Your computer is now setup to connect toLAUSDnetWe still have toset up yourInternet Browser Explorer or Netscape
