  2. DMH and billing Interfaces The Standard of interfaces between switches and other NE’s between carriers is based on IS-41 <The standard also defines how users are identified and calls are routed when roaming across different networks>. The basic messages are related to call activities, when and where call was made, how long, and so on. DMH fulfills operators need for a ways to rapidly transfer call details among various business entities.

  3. DMH and billing Interfaces • DMH has flexible message services, including: • Certified Delivery • Uncertified Delivery • Retransmission Request • Record Request • Aggregate Delivery • Aggregate Request • Rate Request

  4. DMH and billing Interfaces • DMH has flexible message services, including: • Certified Delivery • This service transfers the call details information between NE with a positive acknowledgement back to the sender.

  5. DMH and billing Interfaces • DMH has flexible message services, including: • Uncertified Delivery • This mechanism is called “send and pray” as contrasted to certify delivery

  6. DMH and billing Interfaces • DMH has flexible message services, including: • Retransmission Request • This command is typically initiated by the receiver when it is certain some data have been lost. The receiver knows something is missing by examining the message sequence numbers.

  7. DMH and billing Interfaces • DMH has flexible message services, including: • Record request • This command is initiated by the receiving end when it needs a specific record or set of records to complete a job <for example the network roaming bill>

  8. DMH and billing Interfaces • DMH has flexible message services, including: • Aggregate Delivery • This service is similar to a batch header and trailer on an accounting tape and provides summary information on records previously sent

  9. DMH and billing Interfaces • DMH has flexible message services, including: • Aggregate Request • This is how the receiver of records asks for summary information data that were previously sent. The message service allows the receiver to verify that all data sent have been received

  10. DMH and billing Interfaces • DMH has flexible message services, including: • Rate Request • This is a request to an external service to put a dollar amount on the call, based on the call detail record.

  11. DMH and billing Interfaces DMH has been designed to operate under many configurations, modes and applications, and to be scaleable. Thereby enabling it to migrate throughout the network. It has been designed to allow operators to control the nature of data they interexchange with other carriers.
