The reuse olant is dimensioned for a treatment capacity of • 500 m3/h. • Report of the result and BAT definition. • THE PROCESS • The main production processes producing effluent with suitable characteristics are connected to a dual wastewater collection pipelines. Suitable ones are collected separately and pumped to a mixing tank. The resulting mixed stream is diverted to a membrane plant for treatment and subsequent reuse. Before reuse membrane permeates are mixed with the necessary amount of primary water, then they are sent to the company water distribution network. The effluents not suitable for reuse, mixed with the concentrate produced by the Ultrafiltration plant, are treated in the existing Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant. The treatment technology is UF on hollow fibres membranes. Best Available Techniques for Water Reuse in Textile SMEs, the BATTLE Project ( LIFE05 ENV/IT/000846) RESULTS: The table below shows the total reuse plant performances in March, considering the actual daily hours of plant functioning. The daily average recovered water data have been calculated both considering the actual days of plant functioning and the days of regular functioning (more than 8 hours), when no stop of the plant for control and membrane maintenance were performed. The reuse plant treated totally about 500m3/d of process and WWTP effluents, according to the project objectives, and produced on average 374m3 of recovered water. This datum improves greatly if we consider only the days in which the plant operated regularly without any stop, in fact it was constantly more than 500m3, according to the project objectives. Furthermore the company plans to increase the plant capacity up to 1000 m3/day, 50% of its total fresh water use. With this full scale plant in operation the company productive processes will use a mix of primary water and reclaimed wastewater in equal proportions. The quality of the recovered water, in this period of plant full functioning, has been always conform to the project objectives. In addition all company manufacturing (about 1000 l.m./month) were produced with a mix of primary and recovered water in various proportion till to 50%. Moreover, all the necessary controls of the quality of textile produced were performed and it was always conform to the company requirements; no problems or notes were communicated by the persons responsible for the company production. • PROJECT DESCRIPTION: • The Project aimed at demonstrating the technical–economical feasibility of a water recycling technique, viable for the overall sector and proposed a methodology to design and create “ad hoc” solutions of water reuse, based on efficient stream segregation. • The methodology consists of several steps : • Company auditing to study the processes and the effluents. • Separation of effluents in potentially reusable or not. • Evaluation of water quality needs of the production departments. • Selection of the most cost-efficient technology for water • reclamation and design of different water reuse schemes for • benefits and costs comparison.
