WhatIs Murmuring? • Murmuring is grumbling or complaining about one’s situation in life; discontent; dissatisfaction • Murmur (Gr. gonguzo) is found in: Mt. 20:11; Lk. 5:30; 15:2; 19:7; Jn. 6:41,43,61; 7:32; 1 Cor. 10:10 • Murmurings (Gr. gongusmos) is found in: Jn. 7:12; Acts 6:1; Phil. 2:14; 1 Pet. 4:9 • Murmurers (Gr. gongustees) is found in: Jude 16

WhoMurmurs? • The Israelites in the wilderness (Ex. 15:24; 16:2,7-9,12; 17:3; Num. 11:1; 14:2,27,29,36; 16:11,41; 17:5,10; Deut. 1:27) • The Jews who did not like Jesus’ actions or his teaching (Lk. 5:30; 15:2; 19:7; Jn. 6:41,43,61) • The false teachers of Jude’s day (Jude 16) • The NT church (Acts 6:1; 1 Cor. 10:10; Phil. 2:14; 1 Pet. 4:9)

  4. Why Do WeMurmur? • Lack of joy (Ex. 15:24) • Lack of faith (Ex. 16:3,12; 17:3; Psa. 106:24-25) • Lack of gratitude (Num. 11:1,6) • Lack of focus (Num. 14:2-3,36) • Lack of humility (Num. 16:11,41; 17:5,10; Deut. 1:26-27)

  6. Do AllThingsWithoutMurmurings • Let us not ignore murmuring as if it is not wrong in the sight of God • Let us see the danger of murmuring to our self and to the church • Let us remove murmuring so that we can be “blameless,” “light,” “service,” and “joy” (Phil. 2:15-18)
