  2. Objectives • Review health statistics among Latinos in Virginia • Identify factors contributing to Latino health • Discuss the Health Commissioner’s priority focus on reducing infant mortality

  3. Virginia Department of Health • Mission- To achieve and maintain optimum personal and community health by emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, emergency preparedness, and environmental protection.

  4. Vision: Advancing health equity for all Virginians Mission: To identify health inequities, assess their root causes and address them by promoting social justice, influencing policy, establishing partnerships, providing resources and educating the public.
