  1. The First Paragraph • Your Ancestors (Small intro about ancestors ) • When and Where did your ancestors originate from? • How did they get here? • Why did they come over? • Where did they settle once they arrived? • How did they make their living? • REMEMBER-Interesting lead!

  2. The 2nd and 3rd Paragraphs • Maternal and Paternal Grandparents • 2nd Paragraph=Dad, 3rd paragraph=Mom • How did they meet? • What did they do for a living? • Are they still living? If so, where do they reside? • What do you know about your great-grandparents? • Funny/Interesting stories about/from (great)grandparents?

  3. 4th Paragraph • Describe any Family Characters • Every family has their Saints, Clowns, Black Sheep, or eccentrics who are loved and loathed. • Is there anyone in your family who sticks out or has a specific reputation? • Try and give an example of a time when this person fit their role at a family event or outing.

  4. 5th Paragraph • Oral Traditions • Are their any stories that were handed down from generation to generation? • Are their any special stories told again and again in your family? • Name change at Ellis island? Building of their first home? Creating a business? An old family phrase?

  5. 6th Paragraph • Family Traditions • What are some of the unique things you do as a family? • Do you celebrate certain holidays, make specific foods, go to an exact location? • What are some of the rituals/traditions that are celebrated surrounding your heritage?
