  1. Bringing It All Together September 2017

  2. Bringing it All Together, Part 1 • Void current benefits then tailor the food package for each family based on the information you discovered now, issue three months of benefits and print the Family Balance Summary. • Give the Family Benefit Summary to your eWIC trainer or their designee for review.

  3. The mother has returned with her infant who is now consuming 8 oz of formula (Similac Advance) daily. (In your nutrition assessment conversation, mom says she plans to continue giving 8 oz of formula daily.) The mother tells you that she would like to get as much tofu as possible, and continue getting about half soymilk and half lactose-reduced milk. The IFF is still consuming Gerber Good Start Soy without any problems, but now the IFF is consuming fruit and vegetable baby foods, so the mother requests that both pureed fruits and vegetables be issued (as well as the regular fruits and vegetables when her IFF turns 9 months). The mother also requests for her IFF to receive Gerber Good Start Soy benefits for one month, and Similac Advance benefits for the following two months. The mother informs you that the C2 will now only drink lactose-reduced milk, and is also now drinking some juice, but she only wants one bottle of juice. Bringing It All Together: Family 1

  4. Bringing It All Together: Family 2 • The EN mother asks if she can get frozen concentrate juice instead of shelf stable juice. • The mother tells you that her IEN is now consuming some fruits and vegetables, and would like the maximum amount of fruits and vegetables added to the food package. •  In addition to being highly allergic to peanut butter and eggs, the C2 was just diagnosed with a gluten sensitivity, and the mother would like corn tortillas to be the only grains that are a part of his food package (other than cereal).

  5. Bringing It All Together: Family 3 • The mother tells you that her infant is currently consuming (and she plans to continue offering) 14 oz of Similac Advance daily. • The PN mother tells you that she would like to keep her same food package, understands that she will receive less food benefits in order to continue issuing the same amount of formula to her infant. Hint: you will need to change PN mom’s category to PN+. • The mother tells you that her C3 is now eating yogurt and drinking three gallons of cow’s milk per month.

  6. Bringing It All Together: Part 2 • In the Training Database • For this activity, you will need a family who has currently issued benefits in the FI Clinic. To achieve this, you can • find a family that is eligible for benefits and issue them; or • certify one and issue benefits. • Transfer the family from the FI clinic to the eWIC clinic. • Void the FIs and issue eWIC benefits. • Print the Family Balance Summary • Give it to your trainer or their designee for review.
