  9. AP Goals • Last year 397 of the 923 AP tests given were AP Social Studies tests. (43%) • Teachers are focusing on moving students scoring 2's (failing) to 3's(passing) and 3’s to 4’s. Teachers are breaking down the test and analyzing specific sections to see where they need to focus.

  11. What is the HSA? • See the handout on HSA test items to see what types of questions students need to be able to answer

  12. How to increase achievement? • All students must pass! HSA at risk database • Target students who struggle on Semester A exam • Teachers are explicitly teaching how to answer a BCR (brief constructed response). • How to read the prompt, decide what is being asked of you, how to respond. • Support available from teachers during lunch.

  13. PLC Groups • In September the department teachers worked together in course alike teams (PLC) to make action plans • These PLC groups meet once a month to analyze data to see if the goals are being met, if not, what needs to be done to meet the goals.

  14. PLC Questions • How many assignments do you have? Is it approximately the same as the others in your PLC? • What is the average for your courses? Is it in the ballpark of the averages of others in your PLC? • What strategies do we currently use to help kids succeed? • Who is failing? Why? • What do we do when students are failing? When they don't do their HW? • How often do we assess? • What do we do with that assessment data? • How do we differentiate for kids who are getting it?

  15. Edline • Teachers are making use of Edline as a tool to communicate with parents and students. • Many teachers are posting assignments in addition to student grades.
