  2. Traditional (folk) music Folk songs can be sacred invocations, the can be insulting, obscene, funny, or heart rendingly sad. They can be about deities,people, and animals — about anything and everything.

  3. Skyforger • Skyforger is a heavy metal band from Latvia which was formed in 1995 out of the remains of doom metal band Grindmaster Dead. Most of their songs are about pagan gods and warfare; they also play traditional Latvian folk songs and metal covers.

  4. Choir music • Latvia is renowned worldwide for its choral singing traditions. When the country regained its independence.

  5. Latvian Nationwide Song and Dance Celebration The Latvian Song and Dance Festival is an important event in Latvian culture and social life.

  6. Latvian rock and pop music • Latvian rock has been an important part of Latvia’s music scene since the 1980s, when it was a part of the discontents of Soviet rule. • Nowadays, the pop music sphere is dominated by pop music (e.g., Prāta Vētra, also known as Brainstorm) and alternative rock.

  7. Brainstorm • Brainstorm (Latvian: Prāta Vētra) is a Latvian pop/rock band. The band became popular internationally in 2000, when they finished third in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 with the song “My Star".

  8. Raimonds Pauls • Raimonds Pauls (born January 12, 1936 in Riga,Latvia) is a Latvian and Soviet composer and piano player who is well-known and respected in Latvia and the former Soviet Union.
