  2. I’m doing a research on medical attention during the Civil War. I have learned lots of facts about the Civil War I will be talking about many medicines during the Civil War, the kinds of tools the doctors used, and how many nurses and doctors were put in one hospital camp.

  3. What medicines were available during the Civil War? Laudanum , Homeopaths , Gunpowder , Chalk ,Blue mass- Mercury , measles-Whiskey,& opium. Small Questions. 1.Was there certain medicines for certain injuries ?There were some for certain injuries. 2.Did the other soldiers ever attack the nurses & doctors ?No , they could not because there were several soldiers that was protecting them. 3.What was the Blue Mass – Mercury & chalk for ?They used it for diarrhea.

  4. What kind of tools did doctors use? Saws & prier like tools. Small Questions 1.Did they use bandages during the Civil War? Yes , they used them for many injuries. 2.What was the doctor of a regiment in the Civil War called? The doctor of a regiment was called a Surgeon. 3. What were the surgeons responsible for ?For treating the sick & wounded of their regiment.

  5. How many nurses & doctors were put in one hospital camp?About 10 nurses & about 5 doctors. Small Questions 1.Did nurses stay in field hospitals or not? Most of the time the nurses did stay in the field hospitals. 2.How did they get the injured off of the field? They used sateen or regulation hand litter. 3.Where did they set medical camps up at? Most of the time they used peoples houses as a medical camp.

  6. In Conclusion, I have learned lots of different facts. I learned ,What medicines were available during the Civil War, the kinds of tools the doctors used,& how many nurses & doctors were put in one hospital camp. And many other interesting things.
