  2. What is a Heart Attack? • A heart attack occurs when blood flow to a section of heart muscle becomes blocked. If the flow of blood isn’t restored quickly, the section of heart muscle becomes damaged from lack of oxygen and begins to die.

  3. What is the cause? • Heart attacks are caused by the build up of plaque in artery and eventually the plaque would rip, tear, or rupture the artery creating a “snag” where a blood clot forms and blocks the artery. This leads to a heart attack.

  4. What factors can cause this? • Age- When a man is over 45 years, and the woman is over 55 years of age, their risk of having a heart attack starts to rise significantly. • High Blood cholesterol levels • Diabetes • Diet - a person who consumes large quantities of, for example, animal fats, or saturated fats • Genes • Heart surgery • Obesity, overweight • Physical inactivity • Smoking

  5. What is the occurrence • There are patients who has had 8 or 9 heart attacks in their lifetime and they are still going strong. • So it really depends on yourself, your physical health.

  6. Symptoms • Uncomfortable pressures, squeezing, or pain in the chest. • Paleness • Cold sweaty skin • Nervousness, anxiety • Pain spreading to shoulders, neck, and arms. The pain could be tightness, burning, pressure, or heavy weight. • Light headiness • Fainting • Shortness of breath
