  2. 2011 National Health Expenditure Accounts: Highlights National health spending increased 3.9 percent in 2011, the same rate of growth as in 2009 and 2010 National health spending reached $2.7 trillion, or $8,680 per person in 2011 The share of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) devoted to health care spending remained steady from 2009 through 2011 at 17.9 percent SOURCE: Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Office of the Actuary, National Health Statistics Group.
