Teaching Assumption 本单元课文内容有关“爱”的主题,这一主题学生非常熟悉,如何挖掘出内容中的“新意”是在教学设计之初遇到的难题。在教学设计方面,教师抓住“Jimmy”这个人物的遭遇,以发生在他身上事情为线索,整理出文章的结构,挖掘出这位一出生就遭遇脑损伤的常人眼中的弱势人物的精神风貌,特别是在“9.11”事件背景之下, “Jimmy”身上所体现出来的人与人之间永恒的支持和关怀精神,不断地鼓励着人们相互依偎着继续生活,成为我们这些肢体正常人的精神支柱。通过学生的小组分析讨论、教师启发引导,帮助学生理解文章含义,使基于内容“content-based”的教学理念得以贯彻;通过总结课文结构,引导学生将阅读获得的知识和能力应用于在写作实践过程中,充分体现外语教学中“输出为驱动”的教学理念。这种教学设计是否能够在实际教学过程中实现,需要教师和学生在课堂中努力配合,进行检验。
