  1. PDF: Improving Industrial Dispensing with Positive Displacement Valves Today, manufacturing industries have improved the application of materials such as adhesives, coatings, and inks by enhancing their dispensing process through the use of more controlled dispensing valves. Automated dispensing process using positive displacement valves offers accurate and repeatable micro dispensing of a range of industrial liquids. What is Positive Displacement? Positive displacement process minimizes liquid dose size variation due to variations in viscosity, manufacturing process, or external temperature. A Positive Displacement Pump (PDP) combines the features of volumetric pump system and a typical valve, thereby reducing system complexity. When material is dispensed through PDP, then there is no contact between motorized parts and material. So such valves are useful for volumetric dispensing of short pot life materials. In such situation, the material will not get cured inside the equipment, and can be properly dried using UV curingsystem. A PDP that has a servo motor driven valve is best suitable for dispensing high viscosity pastes. Since PDP dispenser pumps are controlled by microprocessor, so there are no chances of dripping and drooling of materials. Buy PDP from a reliable supplier that provides dispensing valves, automated dispensing systems and dispensing controllers. Types of PDP These pumps can be divided in two main classes - Reciprocating Positive Displacement Pumps and Rotary Positive Displacement Pumps. 1.Reciprocating Positive Displacement Pumps: Reciprocating piston pumps are designed for reliable operation and require minimal maintenance. They offer drift-free operation, precision dispensing. They are also self-priming and offer instant reversibility in either direction. 2.Rotary Positive Displacement Pumps: Rotary displacement pumps feature a chamber containing gears, vanes, plungers, or similar elements, with no separate inlet and outlet valves. These displacement pumps are characterized by their close running clearances.

  2. Advantage of using Positive Displacement Pump Positive displacement pumps are perfect for working with viscous fluids. They can easily accommodate the greater pressures that accompany high viscosity liquids. Additionally, these positive displacement pumps don’t allow external air to enter inside the equipment that could cause curable products to harden. They also reduce production downtime and maintenance requirements as required for typical valves. Conclusion PDP is a volumetric dispenser and useful for manufacturing plants just like automated dispensing systems. PDP can dispense the exact volume of programmed liquid, which can be cured using UV curing system during the assembly process. PDP pumps are not influenced by the change in viscosity or air pressure. But make it sure you only buy PDP, curing system and other dispensing equipment only from reliable supplier.
