Background

Background

  • Gray wolf (Canis lupus)

  • Phylum: Chordata

  • Class: Mammalia

  • Order: Carnivora

  • Family: Canidae

  • The gray wolf, A.K.A the timber wolf, is the largest species of wild canid (the dog family).

  • The color of the fur (pelage) is extremely variable, ranging from white in arctic wolves, to black in some more southern populations. However, a grayish or brownish coat is the most common color.

  • Adult body length is 39-59 in plus a tail of 12-20 in and its weight is 35-176 lb with makes being larger.

Endangered

Endangered?

The grey wolf is endangered due to being shot and poisoned as a pest by ranchers. Deforestation and changes in habitat affecting the abundance of its prey species have also been significant in its decline. Also when leaving protected woods it is a possible outcome to being hit by automobiles and trains. That’s the main reason why the grey wolf is endangered.

Reservations

Reservations

  • The Grey Wolf is protected in national parks all around the planet to try to insure there survival.

  • They are sure to be safe in the park grounds but if they venture out bounds of the park they would likely be hunted by hunters who only want there valuable fur pelts.

Operation wolf reign

Operation: Wolf Reign

I would find a wildlife organization and become part of it. Then when I was in I would give them the idea to make a bill to send to congress so that the park range would expand and the Grey Wolf and other species could survive with an improved chance.
