  1. SB English 12 Thursday, September 25th, 2014

  2. I Remember… • Collect HW • Display examples?

  3. Warm-Up • Write your own working definition of imagery. • How do authors use imagery to appeal to the emotions of an audience? • What makes imagery effective?

  4. Invisible Man • Get a SB book and tear out p. 27-30 • Individually read and annotate the prologue from Invisible Man. Specifically, mark the text for images and their effects.

  5. After Reading • The prologue contains images that represent Ellison’s multiple and conflicting ideas of self. Choose 2-3 significant images, and sketch a visual for each. Label each sketch. Do this on the same paper as your warm-up!! • Use the model on p. 28 of SB to describe your perception of self. Use an abstract noun and explain it!! • Turn in: SB p. 27-28 stapled on top of your notebook paper!

  6. Punctuation – what is it good for? • Enrichment point: Thoroughly complete SB p. 29-30. Bring it in tomorrow for a point of enrichment (assessment score).
