  2. NVDRS Funding $3.34 million appropriated for NVDRS in the FY 2006 federal budget. No new funds appropriated. Senators Arlen Spector and Tom Harbin have requested a $5 million set-aside in the CDC FY 07 budget for the expansion of NVDRS.

  3. NVDRS States as of June, 2006 FY 02 (6 states) FY 03 (7 states) FY 04 (4 states) CA funded to collect data in 4 counties

  4. Importation of Data All vital records related data elements can be imported into the database (incorporated in 2004) Ability to import coroner/medical examiner data was added in 2005 Ability to import law enforcement data is planned for January 2007 software update release

  5. Availability of NVDRS Data Public Use Dataset (PUD) is scheduled to be available Summer of ’06 (will include data for 2003 and 2004) Currently developing a data query system similar to CDC WISQARS - scheduled to be complete by Spring ’08 Preliminary data will be available 9 months after the data year and final analysis files will be available 21 months after the data year starting with the 2006 data year.

Future Plans for NVDRS • Work with NAPHSIS to include NVDRS in the Inter-Jurisdictional Exchange Agreement • Work with NAPHSIS to better understand the potential implications of the Intelligence Reform Act. • Finalize and disseminate NVDRS Five Year Strategic Plan • Incorporation into Public Health Information Network (PHIN) • Development of an IPV module. • Eventually fund all 50 states, District of Columbia and territories, assuming funding is available.
