  2. Cyrena D. Pulido Artist’s Statement Sunset Beauty I have done a couple different types of photography, this year I choose to do sunsets because I love the color and shapes the sky creates. I looked outside one day and say the sun setting after a rainy day, the sky almost seemed to reach out to me. I went to grab my camera and the images I came up with where extraordinary. The sky seemed to come towards me. It had so much shape and vibrant colors, it was breathtaking. I try to go out almost every other day and take photographs of the sunsets, because ever afternoon, it’s always different. My photos are often taken in regular neighborhoods or at parks. The sky takes it own color and blends and disappears into the night. It highlights whatever it’s behind. When I take these photos I always remember to get as much as the sky as possible, and keep in the clouds. I use the natural light, and try to do little editing on my photos. I think the colors are already vibrant enough. My technique is to darken the foreground and pop out the clouds a little more. I like my photos to have a little contrast. I want my viewer’s attention to focus on the sky and little on the foreground. In most my photos I like to keep in the trees and silhouettes of the houses because when you look at the photos the sun highlights those figures even more. My current work is still of digital sunset photography, I continue to do little editing on my photos and most of the photos have a orange or red color to them. Lately I am trying to wait for the sky to give me more use of color. I try to use more blue and purple, however if I can’t get that color naturally I will slightly tint the photos. This actually turns out well because the clouds seem to be highlighted a little more. I continue to burn the foreground and dodge the rain clouds just to give the photo a little more. I want to continue this work for awhile, even after high school. Sunsets are a natural beauty that can change every evening. I want my photos to show that beauty, and show others how breathtaking it can be anywhere you look.

  16. Cyrena D. Pulido Biography I have attended El Camino for all four years. This year, 2010, I am a senior in my fourth year of photography. I started out doing Black and White film photography my freshmen year. In my first year of Advanced Photography I decided to keep up with my black and white and do cemetery's. Junior year, my second year in advanced photography, I worked with digital photography. My last year is also with digital photography doing sunsets. I think my strongest area in photography is nature and still life. Its what I prefer the most and what I feel I'm good at. I love photography and hope to keep it up after High School. I plan to include it in the media design course I'm going to take at DeVry University.
