  2. Animals are classified into two big groups: • vertebrates. • invertebrates.

  3. Vertebrates have a backbone or a skeleton. Invertebrates don’t have a skeleton.

  4. All mammals are vertebrates.

  5. Mammals are viviparous They are born from their mother’s womb

  6. Mammals are viviparous. Exceptions: 1- Theduck-billedplatypus: It’soviparous Platypusesare unique Australian animals. They are small mammals (about the size of a cat) which lay eggs and feed their young milk. They have a tail like a beaver, a body like an otter, webbed feet, a beak like a bird and walk like a reptile.
