  1. CGNB293 – Statistics for Computing Lab Session

  2. Introduction R is a programming language and software environment for statistical computing and graphics. Open Source Software under GNU General Public License There are 2 lab sections taught by me in this semester.

  3. Introduction • All labs are taught by Alan Cheah and Nazrita Ibrahim, • Email : alancheah@uniten.edu.my • Room : BW-4-C43 • Lab notes are available at http://metalab.uniten.edu.my/~alancheah/CGNB293-R

  4. Assessment This Lab contributes 15% to your overall course marks. There will be 2 to 3 lab test to assessed. To be done individually. End objective : to able to use R to draw bar graphs / pie charts.

  5. A Lab is NOT A Lecture Many students are confused between a lab session and a lecture. In a lecture, you pay attention to the lecturer in front of you and you try to understand/comprehend what he/she is lecturing thus imparts knowledge to u! In a lab, you will try ON YOUR OWN the exercises/task/samples given to you thus you will learn by trying and soon after practicing countless times you will learn the technical knowledge! That’s why in my lab, there will be NO LECTURE!

  6. Lab Rules When the lab sessions starts, you MUST switch off YOUR MONITOR of your workstation. Failure to do so, you will have to LEAVE the lab. This is to ensure the students pay attention to the lab sessions conducted in front of the lab. Once it’s time for you to try out the lab exercises and examples, you may switch on your monitor. Failing to attend the lab sessions more than 3 times will result you being barred from the final exam.
