  1. Sky flagship programmes

  2. Idiot abroad • The first episode of an idiot abroad aired on the 23 September 2010, after the pilot episode it had a lot of positive feedback due to its new fresh idea and the main host of the show Karl pilkingtons obscure views on life. After the first few episodes the show really took off with the first show reaching over 1.2 million viewers and has now become one of skys most watched shows. • The show centres around a regular man from Manchester as he travels to exotic places around the world. The show isn’t really about travel although it is a main theme, the show is more about karl giving his unique take on what he does and sees, hes a plain man with plain tastes and the creators of the show Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant give him ridiculous tasks like when he goes to japan he has to climb Mt. Fuji and does nothing but complain the whole way up about how he just wants a cup of tea.

  3. Idiot abroad .2 • An idiot abroad puts this very ordinary boring man with low expectations in situations and places that normal people would be amazed by or really enjoy and the element of comedy is that he is not impressed by it at all. A great way to sum up the show is a phrase from his trip to china “its not a great wall, more like an alright wall ,its the alright wall of china” • The show has had 3 seasons and has travelled all around the world getting more ridiculous as it went along. Gervais and merchant have sent Pilkington to more and more exotic places and put him in more and more ridiculous situations , like when he had to wrestle in Mongolia or when he visited the village in china that was made for little people which he loved but when he called Warrick Davis and explained the cillage , warrick then explained to karl that it was a horrible exploitation of a disability and karl tried to argue back that it was nice

  4. A league of their own • a league of their own is a game show that features different sports stars and features questions about sport and related subjects, it is a panel based show and features regular captains and host jamescorden • the show was first broadcast on the 11th of march 2010 and because it featured some quite well known people were on the panel and the show achieved quite good ratings straight from the start. • what is different about ALOTO is that when the team answer certain questions they must also complete certain tasks to do with sport, like in the task called "human clock" where the team try to answer as many questions as they can while n of the team members is subjected to a very physical endurance task. • the two teams have regular captains in the for of the red teams jamieredknapp and the blue team andrewflintoff these ensure that both teams have a sportsperson or at least someone fit to complete the physical tasks • the reception of the show was quite good with many sports magazines and publications giving it quite alot of good ratings with one magazine saying it was "surprisingly witty and charming"

  5. Strike back • Strike back is a British/American tv series about a special operations unit of the SAS and Special Forces as they take on certain criminal organisations and rogue nations. • The show was first aired in may 2010 but didn’t really take off until the second series in 2011, the original story was written by Chris Ryan and published as a book in 2007. • The first series didn’t get as much funding as it needed therefore it looked a tad cheap and came off as a tiny bit badly made at the start, as the first series went on the show began to get more notoriety and a lot of people started watching it, by the second season the rating had shot up to 600,000 people tuning in for the first episode which was quite a lot for a series like

  6. Strike back .2 • As the seasons progressed the audience got bigger and broke into over a million viewers per episode which is huge for a show like this , after season one new characters where brought in to take the place of john porter the original character. • Strike back unlike other shows that follow the same pattern or are of the same genre mixes things up a lot by killing off characters that you thought were quintessential to the story arc, this in turn mixes up the story even more and provides a lot of twists and turns throughout the series. • In my opinion series three titles “vengeance” and the last series titled “legacy” were the best and were the highpoint of the show, even though these are the best of the 5 series the other 3 are also extremely good and the story depends on you watching them which I highly recommend.
