  3. Reason • Need for accuracy (patron and machines) • Need for new data (location) • Reduce support effort (both NLS and libraries) • CMLS/BPHICS is dated

  4. where we are • Study – in review • Requirements - in progress • Migration plan - in progress • Specifications - as soon as requirements finalized • Share with circ system vendors

  5. Preliminary Study Recommendations • Combine CMLS/BPHICS into one system • Link patron/equipment • Improve location tracking for equipment – patron level

  6. Preliminary Study Recommendations • Make CMLS clearing house for transfers • Move to real time processing • Internet based transactions (no batch) • Circ system direct to cmls

  7. Preliminary Study Recommendations • Continuous background reconciliation, internet based • Improved audit trail (who touched a record and when) • BARD - CMLS data exchange/verification

  8. Preliminary Study Recommendations • Upgrade report options to support pdf/xls output • Enable download of label data by publication producers
