  1. COMPUTERS 2002-03 Mrs. Roberts Columbiana Middle School

  2. NEW Hands Free Cell Phone • READ THIS BEFORE OPENING PICTURE! • I don't know if you've heard, but starting Jan 1, 2003 you will no longer be able to use a cell phone while driving unless you have a "hands free"adapter. I went to my phone dealer and they wanted $50 for a headset with a boom microphone for my cell phone. I have come up with an alternative, working through Staples (office supply store). These kits are compatible with any mobile phone and one size fits all.

  3. Continued • I paid $0.08 each because I bought in quantity. I'm selling them for $1.00. I tried them out on Erickson, Motorola, & Nokia, Sprint PCS phones and they worked perfectly. A photo is attached. Take a look and let me know if you want one. Pass the word to anyone you know who may want one too!

  4. MAKE SURE YOU KNOWWHAT YOU ARE GETTINGBEFOREYOU GET IT!!

  5. New Information About RAM • DDR SDRAM – new RAM speed – From the Dell Catalogue dated August 2002 – • “Think of memory as a steady wave that goes back and forth from left to right. SDRAM only connects with the wave on one side, or its left, if you will. ..DDR SDRAM ..an advanced version..connects on both the right and left crests, resulting in the potential doubling of memory output for greater speed. • When would you and I notice the difference?

  6. Modem • V.90 56K Modem • 12 years ago the fast modem was a 7.5K • When will the speed of the modem be important? • What does Broadband have to do with a modem?

  7. Monitor • The viewable screen is generally 1 inch less than the size listed. • What is the difference between a flat screen and the screen on the computer you use in class? • If you spend a lot of time on the computer, what kind of screen do you want?

  8. Does it matter where you get your computer? • Is someone from Comp USA more able to talk with you about computers than a salesman at Best Buy or Sears? • Thought – Once you buy your computer, is the salesman going to talk to you about a problem or is he going to spend his time with another customer to sell another computer?

  9. WARRANTY • Why is the warranty important?

  10. POSTER • Make a poster about the computer you liked the best. • Make it creative and interesting.

  11. GROUP ESSAY • Evaluate the computers and choose the one from your group that you feel is the best for the cost. • Write an essay in WORD about: • Which computer you choose • Why do you feel it is superior to the others • What else would you like to find out about it • What would you add to it

  12. PROJECT GRADE • Complete the form with 3 computers from newspaper ads • Submit your information to the teacher using the Visors or completing the form on the shared server • Choose the one you feel is the best • Write the group essay • Extra credit – if you have time – find one more computer from a different company on the Internet and add it to your list

  13. TEAMWORK, HARDWORK AND COOPERATION WILL LEAD TO SUCCESS
