  3. Timeline • Eligibility confirmed • 25th October • Register online with MTAS • Complete and submit application form • 5th December = DEADLINE • Website closes

  4. First Steps • 25th October: online portal opens • Register • Exact process unclear • Likely to be email and med school • PIN code after registration • Complete form online

  5. MTAS Portal: What you will see • Number of local graduates expected • Drop down menu of Foundation Schools • Menu of posts available • Includes: location, speciality, trust, no. positions for each job. • Does not include: banding, contractual information etc.

  6. The Form • 85 marks • 2 main components • Academic ranking • Short answer questions

  7. The other bits • Personal • Name and address • Preferences • You must rank 26 foundation schools • References • Your references must be clinicians • Equality & diversity • will be used by employers to build a demographic profile of their workforce. • Submit • Confirm application is completed and all information is correct and your own work

  8. Short answer questions • ~ 8 • Some academically slanted • How scored? • Out of 40 • By first choice foundation school • Scoring system should be available online • Word limit: 150

  9. What happens next? • 5th December: Web portal closes • Forms must be submitted by then • Your form goes to your first choice foundation school • They mark it using nationally agreed criteria • Posts filled sequentially with highest scoring applicants • Unsuccessful applicants get passed to second choice foundation school and so on • Notification of foundation school 1st Feb

  10. Then what? • Rank posts • February • How many depends on foundation school • Most likely online • Method of allocation depends on foundation school • MTAS Score • Interviews • Other • Notification of posts March 29th
