  1. Winter-Spring 07 CCSDS Management Council CNES report Jean-Marc SOULA (CNES)

  2. 1. CNES general information • Changes in CNES organization: None. • CNES has launched a new “CCSDS compliant satellite” : COROT on December 27, 2006… now in in-flight acceptance.

  3. 2. CNES Ressources on CCSDS • Potential involved • CNES manpower involved in the last 6 months was around 3.5 EFT effort • Present participation covers all areas except Spacecraft On Board Interfaces Services (SOIS) • This should be maintained for the next coming months • Likely with same distribution • Depending on operating plan presented by CESG and AD’s

  4. 3. Implementations (1/3) Spacecraft • All CNES satellites under development are CCSDS compliant (at least partially) • Next to be launched : SMOS and JASON-2 (mid 2008), including an SLE interface to CNES stations. • Summary of future satellites • Myriade family : Microscope, Picard, Venµs, Taranis, … • Dual satellites : Pleïades

  5. 3. Implementations (2/3) Ground Systems • Project on a global harmonization of CNES ground segments, from multi-mission thru product lines for a progressive implementation in the longer term (2007–2010). • Implementation of RF&M, OPM, TDM, Packet TM/TC, etc… operational end 2006. • SLE gateways for SLE transfer services with CNES multi-mission facilities (2004 on Provider side ; 2006 on User side ). • SLE transfer services on the User side for Pleiades project: development in progress for the Control Center. • SLE transfer services at ground stations level planned for a next phase (2007). • So far, SLE Service Management anticipated only as an interface for external partners.

  6. 3. Implementations (3/3) New standards applicable to CNES Projects in 2006 • CFDP - 727.0-B-3 (CFDP) 720.1-G-2 (part 1 intro & overview) 720.2-G-2 (part 2 Implementers guide) • Lossless data compression - 121.0-B-1 120.0-G-1 • Space link extension - 912.3-B-1 (FSP service spec) 912.1-B-2 (F_CLTU service spec) 911.5-B-1 (ROCF service spec) 911.2-B-1 (RAF service spec) 911.1-B-2 (RAF service spec) 910.4-B-2 (ref. model - Part 1: SLE) • Proximity-1 Space Link Protocol - 211.0-B-3 (Data link) 211.1-B-3 (Physical) 211.2-B-1 (Coding and synchronisation) • TM - 131.0-B-1 (TM synch. and channel coding) 130.1-G-1 (TM synch. and channel coding - Concept) 130.0-G-1 (Overview of space link protocols) 132.0-B-1 (TM space data link protocol) 133.0-B-1 (Space Packet protocol) • AOS - 732.0-B-1 (AOS space data link protocol) • TC - 231.0-B-1 (TC synch. and channel coding) 232.0-B-1 (TC space data link protocol) 232.1-B-1 (Communications operations procedure)

  7. 4. MISCELLANEOUS (1/2) • Secretariat: • CNES is grateful to the secretariat for the very good reporting to the CMC in between meetings (e.g.: epoll results) and the data package for this CMC meeting. • Intermediate progress status of action items could also be useful for CMC members. • Strategic / Operating plan: • CNES feels that there is a gap between the high level long term objectives and the work in progress. • CNES recommends that each area produces a list of Work Items (completed, in progress, future) they feel should be covered in final and this list identifies the medium/long term Work Plan of CCSDS. • That list would be helpful in the coordination with other standardization organizations.

  8. 4. MISCELLANEOUS (2/2) • Publications • The Data Description Language EAST Specification (CCSDS 644-0-B-3) has never been published in spite of “CMC” approval in # 2003. • The reason seems to be related to incompatibilities between CNES and Secretariat softwares for drawings. • Issue to be fixed by Secretariat with Editors (CNES: D Minguillon ; NASA: D Sawyer ; J Garrett). • Documents: • Access to / recovery of documents on the web site is not always working. • CNES needs word or .pdf files in unprotected format for Books that are introduced in CNES list of applicable standards.
