Which of these beatitude actually helps others? Which only makes a difference to the person?. Beatitudes. Depend on God for everything. Live a simple and obedient life. Blessed are the poor in spirit , for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

  1. Which of these beatitude actually helps others? Which only makes a difference to the person? Beatitudes • Depend on God for everything. Live a simple and obedient life. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mournfor they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meekfor they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for what is rightfor they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful,for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heartfor they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakersfor they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted in the cause of right, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven • Grieve over wrong-doing and evil that is done • Humble/ gentle: don’t fight for their own advantage • Hope for justice/ fairness in the world, for people to live rightly • Kind, forgiving and generous • Clean from sin, in thoughts and actions • Living peacefully and promoting peace, to bring people together Faithful to Jesus even if that means suffering

  3. Watch the video. Note down the roles of a priest. Which of these roles do you think it the most important? Why? • Prayer • Visiting sick • Youth ministry • Schools ministry • Administration • Sacraments: mass, reconciliation • Weddings, funerals, baptisms • Teaching, preaching • Available to parishioners • Spiritual guidance • study • relaxation • Write out: “The role of a priest is to “preach the gospel, to shepherd the faithful and to celebrate divine worship”. Explain what this means. • In what ways is a priest right at the centre of the most important moments of a person’s life? • What does it mean to say that the priest has a “pastoral “ role? What sort of personal qualities does the priest have to have to do this? • **In what ways might it be important for a priest to be within the community? In what ways might it be important for a priest to be apart from the community?
