Strategies for success • Show up for classes. • When you are late you are • Missing something • Sending your instructor the message that you don’t care . • Let your instructor know about appointments, sickness, emergencies as soon as possible. • Complete work on time. • Facing grade penalty • Irritating your teachers. • Your work may not be acceptable. • Let your instructor know if you are ill or there is emergency situation.

  2. Set up a weekly schedule. • Mange your time. • Get portable appointment calendar and keep it handy. • Give yourself a realistic workload • If you are full time student, limit your work to 15 hours. • Find jobs on campus. • Need more money consult financial aid officer.

  3. Discover how you can learn best. • We are individuals with different approaches to the word around us • Have realistic expectations. • May be disappointment in the grades you make • College is a new experience and things will improve. • Hang on positive attitude it make difference.

Get Set: Study, study, study • improve your study habits. • Time management plan • Every minutes count • Master study skills, listening, taking notes, studding for exam • Use info in campus • Visit academic skill center. • Develop critical thinking skills. • Ask why • Seek info • Never accept something as fact • Do not be emotional, keep logical thinking powers at work

Meet with your instructor and advisor • It is not high school visit your teacher • Find a terrific academic advisor or consoler • Or someone to you can go for support and guidance • Enlist the support of spouse, partner, or your family • You may adjust household routines and duties • Let others know you need time to study • Seek counseling if you need help

Take your health seriously • Get enough sleep • Healthy food to eat • Exercise • Decision about alcohol, drugs, sex will affect you’re your wellbeing and how well you will do in classes • Find healthy ways to deal with stress • Avoid using legal prescription, illegally • Get help from counseling center • Learn how to be assertive, yet tactful • Take assertiveness training • Be proud of your heritage • Refuse to tolerate disrespect • Take the classes from consoling center to teach you how to stand up for your rights while you are respecting other peoples right.
