This Week’s News • This week: Dow up 1.5% to 10,192; S&P up 2% to 1131; Nasdaq up 3.3% to 1942 (Q3 #s for each: -3.4%, -2.3%, -7.4%) • Oil briefly touches $50 a barrel on Monday due to Nigeria rebel situation; closes above $50 on Friday • Google pops 7% on Tuesday as Morgan Stanley, CSFB initiate with buy recommendations • Thursday, Merck stock drops 27% as Vioxx pulled; largest DJIA component drop since ‘01 • Q2 GDP finalized at 3.3% • Strong Chicago PMI (manufacturing), housing numbers
