  2. Historical Notes • Alex F. Osbourne given credit of creation • All ideas were given a chance

  3. Why Brainstorm? • Innovation is always good • Bad ideas may be good ideas • Combination of two ideas may be better

  4. Why Brainstorm? • Shy participants become active • One idea may lead to the next • Avoid thinking in circles

  5. Correct Brainstorming • Define what the problem is. • If the problem is composed on many sentences, then you should divide it into smaller components and derive ideas from each one to come up with your solution.

  6. Correct Brainstorming • Provide a background involving the time, problem, date or place which can help you avoid getting off track. • Provide a certain number of people to take care of one idea and the others to take care of the remaining idea.

  7. Correct Brainstorming • One way to avoid losing creativity is to come up with questions to tie everything up. • In the group there should always be someone in charge of collecting all the ideas.

  8. Correct Brainstorming • After all of the ideas have been said, the leader of the group should evaluate them all and sort them from most important to least important. • Relate one idea you have found to the effect of another.

  9. Correct Brainstorming • Most importantly: • Get as many ideas as possible • Avoid criticism of ideas, instead use all ideas to build up on them • Unusual ideas are always welcomed because they can open new ways of thinking • Also, there can be combination of good and simple ideas in order to end up with complete ideas.

  10. Common Mistakes • Making judgments on ideas • Leads to lower participation • Possible loss of good ideas • No visible “idea board” • Repetition of ideas • Lack of new thinking

  11. Conclusion • Good concept • Ease of use • Extremely beneficial • Must be structured • Leads to excellent work • Best possible solutions
