What is an Outline?
  • A list of the main information that you want to include in your project or paper
  • Where each piece information will go
  • What order the information will be presented
  • When you start writing your paper or constructing your project, your skeleton has already been made

How do I begin?
  • Begin with the thesis statement of your project
  • What are going to be the major supporting details for your thesis statement?
  • What are the facts that you will be using for your supporting details? (Your notecards will help with this item)

  • Title the outline
  • Write your thesis statement: this will help you keep your focus as you are writing your outline
  • Start with the Introduction (this will be Roman numeral “I”)
  • The next Roman numeral should be your first supporting detail
