NEM mission NEM is an industry-led initiative with 750+members from more than 30 countries and the mission to: • Accelerate the pace of innovation • Make the convergence between the audiovisual sector andthe telecom sector happen • Place the European industry at the forefront of the information era

  4. NEM in figures A European growth booster • NEM topics and companies address a €600Bn market • NEM investment plan forecast over 2007-2013 : €3.5Bn • NEM scope involves 1.5 million job in Europe • 1.5 million additional jobs are expected to be created by 2015 within NEM’s scope

Today’s consultation workshopFocus topics Innovative technologies, systems and architectures for the Future Media Internet, including: • Ubiquitous multimedia networking • Multimedia search and retrieval • Immersive experiences in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality environments • Innovative applications (e.g. entertainment, gaming, etc.) • Personal environments including extended home and social networks • Multi-technology integration and convergence of broadcasting, content provision, telecommunications, consumer electronics and Future Internet • Other innovative research ideas at the crossroads of networking and media
