COOL (Credentialing Opportunities On-Line) helps Navy service members find information on certifications and licenses related to enlisted ratings, designators, and collateral duties(in rate and out of rate) Explains how Sailors can meet civilian certification and license requirements and provides links to numerous resources for help. The web site provides Sailors with information on how to fulfill the requirements of civilian credentials related to their Navy ratings, jobs, and occupations. The web site also maps Navy ratings, jobs, and occupations to U.S. Dept of Labor-recognized civilian occupations

Cont…. • In service: • Civilian credentialing can contribute to personal and professional career development. • Transitioning and post-service: • Federal, state, or local law may require specific credentials to legally perform some jobs. • Employers may choose to hire only employees who have certain credentials, or to pay those employees more. • Credentials may improve your prospects for promotion. • Credentials demonstrate to civilian employers that • your skills are on par with your civilian peers.

  7. Apprenticeship • Who awards apprenticeships? The United Services Military Apprenticeship Program (USMAP) in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Labor. • Why? So the service member can achieve recognition for on-the-job training and work experience equal to his/her civilian counterpart. • Are they voluntary? Yes, although apprenticeship is required by some employers in certain industries.

  8. Basic Rules Eligibility: Must have 1 year remaining on EAOS Certification: Once you have passed or failed your test, you MUST contact Navy Cool office to close out your case. Payment : Never pay for exam out of your pocket. Submit payment voucher first. Re-certification: Navy COOL will pay for any recertification fee or maintenance fee that may come with a certification.
