What is The Mahabodhi Temple? - Buddhist temple in BODH GAYA- Located about 96km from Patna, Bihar State in India- Built by the great Indian emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE in honor of Buddha - Next to the Temple, to its Western side is the Bodhi tree- Around 530 BC, Siddhartha Gautama. A Young Indian Prince saw the suffering of the world and wanted to end it

  3. 2 Additional Sacred Temples: • Bodh Gaya:located in Bihar, India • Prince Gautama also known as Lord Buddha • Dalai Lama spends a lot of time here • Bodh Gaya is located around 13km from Gaya, 450 km west of Calcutta, and 90 km from south of Patna

Information on Dalai Lama? • Buddhist leader of religious officials of the Gelug- Believed by his devotees to be the rebirth of a long line of tulkus who are considered to be manifestations of the bodhisattva of compassion, Avalokitesvara • The reincarnation of his predecessor, and is discovered in the hills of tibet through a series of tests
