  2. About 2010 SlovakFloods • Duration: May – June 2010 • The floodswere a devastating series of weather events which occurred across several Central European countries Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Hungary, Ukraine including Slovakia

  3. Reasons • The mainreason of these floodswere over average rainfalls and heavy rains • In twomonths the amount of rainfalls was fourtimeshigher, thannormallyshouldbe • For example in Hurbanovothere was 319 mm of rainfalls in twomonths

  4. Victims and damages • The most strickenregionswereNoveZamky, Kosice, Presov, Bardejovand VelkyKrtis • At least 2 peoplediedbecause of floods and manyhousesweredemaged • The 2 000 km2 of ground was damaged • Later, the total damage was estimated at 695.1 million euros • The government has to solve the problems caused by weather, because more and more people are effected by rains every year
