  1. Dry Run- Week 13 - Infrastructure • LHC OP + BI logging running • Energy distributed by energy simulator: 10 seconds 450 GeV, 15 minutes ramp to 7 TeV, 10 seconds 7 TeV, 15 minutes ramp to 450 GeV • Energy logged under LHC->Beam Interlocks->SMP in units of 120 MeV • Timing up and running • Injection table played by sequencer • Sequence: Play Inj Tbl Async • Needed by BTVs and FIFO concentrator • All concentrators running: BLM running sums, BLM capture, BPM FIFO, BPM capture • Operational HyperCycle: INJ-TEST

  2. Dry Run - Week 13 – BI - Results • All in all: already quite successful. • Summary under: • https://espace.cern.ch/mddb/Lists/ActivityTracking/ActivityTracking%20simplified.aspx • Looked at: • BPMs → Concentrators , OFSU→ YASP, MultiTurn • FBCTs, DCBCTs → Applications, fixed displays, logging • BLMs → Concentrators → BLM monitoring applications (running sums, capture), threshold editor • → MCS online checks: all BLMs critical • Abort gap monitor → Application, logging • LHC timing BTVs → Application, logging • Tune → Application, logging • No post mortem events, no beam dumped events

  3. Dry Run - Week 13 – Issues (1) • RBAC policy strict mode: we are not ready yet • Changed back to lenient shortly after • Need a dedicated dry run after switch to strict mode later on • (Problems with old CMW name server) • BTV proxies: no solution yet • Need to come back to BCTs • Logging • not everything logged that is defined: Profiles for wire scanners, certain parameters of BCTs (see summary), some BLMs (disconnected? ( see summary)), BBQ • partly nothing defined: abort gap monitor, orbit • SDDS directories....OK now [but not final solution yet] • FILL DATA: could we not have some more structure there? • Sub-directories automatically generated: BLM, BPM, YASP, ....

  4. Dry Run - Week 13 – Issues (2) • Request from BLMs: concentrators, sequencer, ....should not use OPERA account anymore. • What shall we use? Special controls account? Different accounts for sequencer, concentrator,...? • Token time-outs!! • Simulated SMP intensity: could not change it → wire scanners protected above certain intensities. • Still issue: problem of new LabView version. • Fixed displays: need to rationalise the number of windows we have. • Example: 4 windows for the FBCTs • Orbit correctors: k → KICK

  5. MCS Tests (1) • Summary under: • http://vkain.web.cern.ch/vkain/MCSTests.htm • Successfully tested except online checks: • LHC BLMs • Dry run: all BLMs were critical. Online check: > 25 minutes (corrected after release, not tested yet) • CISx: safe machine parameters (probe beam intensity, energy limit for stable beam flag) • Online checks not tested yet: waiting for release • Injection kickers: ExpertSettings (operational limits) • SoftStartSetting critical but not tested yet. • Online checks not tested yet: waiting for release • MKD and MKB settings • The new MKB devices are still missing in FESA • Online checks not tested yet: waiting for release

  6. MCS Tests (2) • Still to be done: • LBDS IPOC (issue with global devices) • LBDS BETS (hardware/software not ready) • Interlocked BPMs in point 6 (still no decision on role) • Interlock settings for power converters in transfer lines • Collimators: started tests • Virtual critical settings • Will carry on testing

  7. Next dry runs • Ongoing: FGC tests with operational settings • https://espace.cern.ch/mddb/Activity%20Tracking%20Tool/Activity%20Tracking%20Welcome.aspx?View={593B6E53-F6F9-4485-8646-E7E683D0F681}&SelectedID=28 • Coming dry runs: next slides • Have to test BCTs again. • Propose week 17 : with generation of SMP intensities. • When shall we test with RBAC in strict mode? • June?

  8. Dry Run I – injection equipment • week 14 (2nd and 3rd of April) and week 15 (for BI rather) • MKI 8: run it from control room • New softstart • OASIS: BCT + MKIs; logging • Beam permit loops: need to jumper out also injection BICs • Energy OK from energy from simulation • Application??: need to make sure that can run it through LSA • Application will be ready in week 16 only → SM18 shifts • http://wikis/display/LHCOP/Sequence+-+Soft-start • Timing: ready for week 14 Test mode stuff (need to verify!!) → got email from Jean-Claude: first version will be ready: need to have a little application as well. Just ONE button (only as lhcop). • RF needs to generate the pre-pulse: Andy told me should be OK • Fixed displays • TI 8 and TI 2 • Prepare DC functions (can’t run it...interlocked) • All BI, usual stuff ← maybe not TI 8 BPMs • Logging for new BPMs...new logging for the PC • Injection BI: again concentrators (BLM [also capture] and BPM), injection region BTVs, run injection tables • BTV proxies: for all SPS BTVs

  9. Dry Run II • Week 17 (23rd and 24th of April) - Injection • Beam 1 and beam 2 injections if possible with the BIS • Transfer lines: critical settings for FEI • MKI 2 like before: with application • Week 17 – LBDS software • LBDS monitoring application (no functional test yet, only communication): needs RBAC for the acknowledge • Arming of IPOC and BETS testable (BetsSim) → test new sequences as far as possible • Also, the new CIBG generators and communication with it...for the time being LBDS jumpered out • XPOC (play-back mode), logging • Dump line BI with XPOC events (should trigger XPOC): fixed displays • FBCTs, BLMs, BTVs, BPMs (interlocked BPM), Abort gap monitor • Week 17 – timing: new telegram
