  1. A Sustainable AHS 5 Ways That AHS Can Be Better Improved to Be More Sustainable

  2. A Large Garden for Daily Vegetables • This garden would contain: • 50,000 sq ft of fresh fruits and vegetables. • Some of the garden would be located on the roof of the school, whereas the rest would take place of the baseball field. • The cost of this would be about $50,000 + a full time gardener to work with the food. • This would pay off over the years because $1 spent on this land would produce $25 of product over each year.

  3. Solar Power • We are also going to add solar panels to all sides of the gardens. • The roof gets great amounts of solar energy and it is just wasted. • This is very expensive, but it will then power most lighting in the school. • The cost will be about $100,000.

  4. Transportation • If we make our transportation of students more efficient then we will be way more sustainable. • The minimum carpooling limit would be 3 people. • This would greatly decrease the traffic as well.

  5. All-Electronic • If AHS were to live by a no paper policy, then we would be killing no trees, and getting our work around more efficiently. • It would be expensive to get everyone their own computer, but we would use no more paper.

  6. If we follow these steps towards making a more sustainable AHS then we can do it. Each thing that we do to improve our campus helps.
