(KJV) Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him." (NASB) And the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him." (NKJ)

  5. Genesis 4:6-7 6 So the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 "If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it." (NKJ) 7 And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it." (NASB) I Pet 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (NKJ)

  6. Genesis 6:3 3 And the LORD said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years." 5:32 Noah was 500 when he had his sons 6:18 your sons and your sons wives 7:6 Noah was 600 when flood began So the 120 must apply to something else!

  7. Numbers 20:7-12 7 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 8 "Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals." 9 So Moses took the rod from before the LORD as He commanded him. 10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock; and he said to them, "Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?“ Next Page

  8. Numbers 20:7-12 11 Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank. 12 Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them." 9. Moses reminds Israel • Deut 1:37 angry with me on your account • Deut 3:26 angry with me on your account • Deut 4:21 angry with me on your account Remembered later in the Psalms • Psa 106:32 went hard with Moses on your account

  10. 2 Kings 2:11 11 Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven 2 Chronicles 21:12(7 years later!) 12 And a letter came to him (Jehoram of Judah) from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus says the LORD God of your father David: Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah Next Page

  11. 2 Kings 3:11 Elisha had taken over for Elijah at the end of Jehoshaphat’s reign • 2 Kg 8:16 Jehoram (son of Jehoshaphat) began in the 5th year of Jehoram of Israel • 2 Chr 21:12 Letter to Jehoram from Elijah Ahaziah Israel Ahab Jehoram 5 Elijah’s Chariot Elijah’s Letter Judah Jehoshaphat Jehoram

  12. 2 Chronicles 36:4-8 4 Then the king of Egypt made Jehoahaz's brother Eliakim king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother and carried him off to Egypt. 5 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And he did evil in the sight of the LORD his God. 6 Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against him, and bound him in bronze fetters to carry him off to Babylon. 7 Nebuchadnezzar also carried off some of the articles from the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon. 8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, the abominations which he did, and what was found against him, indeed they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. Then Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place. Next Page

  13. Notes on Jehoiakim Daniel 1:1 Nebuchadnezzar came against Jerusalem during Jehoiakim’s 3rd year 2 Kgs 24:1 Jehoiakim became Nebuchadnezzard’s vassel for 3 years, then rebelled, but reigned for 11 years Jer 22:19; 36:30 Jehoiakim died at Jerusalem and was thrown out on the open ground with no burial

  14. Job 19:25-26 (KJV) 25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: 26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Job 19:6-8, 11-12 (NASB) 6 Know then that God has wronged me, and has closed His net around me. 7 "Behold, I cry, 'Violence!' but I get no answer; I shout for help, but there is no justice. 8 "He has walled up my way so that I cannot pass; and He has put darkness on my paths. 11 "He has also kindled His anger against me, and considered me as His enemy. 12 "His troops come together, and build up their way against me, and camp around my tent. 15. Job believed he’d be redeemed, and God proven wrong! • 13:3 But I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God. • 13:15 I will defend my own ways before Him. • 13:18 I have prepared my case, I know that I shall be vindicated. • 16:7-14 He tears me in his wrath and hates me…He has set me up for His target…He runs at me like a warrior. • 19:6-11 God has wronged me… He counts me as one of His enemies.

  16. Job 19:25-29 (RSV) 25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at last he will stand upon the earth; 26 and after my skin has been thus destroyed, then from my flesh I shall see God, 27 whom I shall see on my side, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me! 28 If you say, 'How we will pursue him!' and, 'The root of the matter is found in him'; 29 be afraid of the sword, for wrath brings the punishment of the sword, that you may know there is a judgment."

  17. Psalm 84:10 • For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. Notes: Korah had 3 sons (Ex 6:24) Korah’s sons did not die in rebellion (Num 26:11) Korah’s family were gatekeepers (1 Chron 26:1) Responsible to open gates each morning & organize vessels (1 Chron 9:26-29), and make sure the unclean do not enter the tabernacle (2 Chron 23:19)

  18. Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) • Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18 (NKJV, RSV) • Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but happy is he who keeps the law. Notes: v.15 child left to himself (needs to know and respect the correction of a parent) v.17 correct your son v.19 slave not changed by mere words (needs to respect authority of his master)

  19. Titus 1:10-14 (NKJV) 10 For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, 11 whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, "Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons." 13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn from the truth. Paul wanted these false prophets rebuked because they were spreading lies about Gentile believers in Crete!

  20. Isaiah 40:3 (NKJ, KJV) 3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness: "Prepare the way of the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Isaiah 40:3 (RSV, NASB) 3 A voice cries: "In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

  21. Jeremiah 16:13-18 (NKJ) 13 'Therefore I will cast you out of this land into a land that you do not know, neither you nor your fathers; and there you shall serve other gods day and night, where I will not show you favor.' 14 "Therefore behold, the days are coming," says the LORD, "that it shall no more be said, 'The LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,' 15 "but, 'The LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.' For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers. Next Page

  22. 16 "Behold, I will send for many fishermen," says the LORD, "and they shall fish them; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks. 17 "For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity hidden from My eyes. 18 "And first I will repay double for their iniquity and their sin, because they have defiled My land; they have filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable and abominable idols." Note NKJ section title next page

  23. Amos 4:1-3 1 Hear this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who say to your husbands, "Bring wine, let us drink!" 2 The Lord GOD has sworn by His holiness: "Behold, the days shall come upon you when He will take you away with fishhooks, and your posterity with fishhooks. See also Ezek 12:13; 17:20; Lam 3:52; Amos 9:1-4; Hos 7:12

  24. Amos 3:3 1 Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying: 2 "You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities." 3 Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? 4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey? Will a young lion cry out of his den, if he has caught nothing? 5 Will a bird fall into a snare on the earth, where there is no trap for it? Will a snare spring up from the earth, if it has caught nothing at all? 6 If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the LORD have done it? 7 Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. 8 A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken! Who can but prophesy? 3 Do two men walk together unless they have made an appointment? (NASB, RSV)

  25. Luke 17:26-30 26 "And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 "They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 "Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 "but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 "Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. 31 "In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. 32 "Remember Lot's wife.Next Page!

  26. Matthew 24:36-44 36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37 "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 "For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 "and did not know until the flood came and took them all away,so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 "Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 "Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43 "But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

  27. Matthew 26:27 • And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it (KJV) • He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you.(NKJ) • And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you; (NASB)

  28. John 5:38-40 (KJV) 38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. 39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. 40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. 39 "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. (NKJ)

  29. 1 Corinthians 2:9 6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 30. 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 13 These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

  31. 2 Corinthians 12:16 (NKJV) 15 And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved. 16 But be that as it may, I did not burden you. Nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you by cunning! 2 Corinthians 12:16 (NIV) 16 Be that as it may, I have not been a burden to you. Yet, crafty fellow that I am, I caught you by trickery! Next Page!

  32. 2 Corinthians 12:16 (RSV) 16 But granting that I myself did not burden you, I was crafty, you say, and got the better of you by guile. 17 Did I take advantage of you through any of those whom I sent to you? 18 I urged Titus to go, and sent the brother with him. Did Titus take advantage of you? Did we not act in the same spirit? Did we not take the same steps?

  33. 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 (NASB) 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth. 16 But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness Paul exhorts Timothy to diligently fulfill his office! See also 1 Timothy 6:20-21

  34. James 4:1-4 1 Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. (NKJ) Note: James already developed that one whose faith and works operate together is called “the friend of God” (2:23)

  35. Revelation 13:8 (NKJV) 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8 (NASB, RSV) 8 And all who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain. Next Page!

  36. Revelation 17:8 (NKJV) 8 "The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

  37. The slain lamb received his book in 5:5-7 5 and one of the elders said to me, "Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals." 6 And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. 7 And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. (NASU)
