  3. Starter (5) • Analyse the question and the markscheme. Relate to whole markscheme. What might you include in an answer to get the top marks?

  4. Level 4 markscheme – 16-20 marks out of 20 • Analyses the provided sources in order to show the way in which the past situation has been represented. Uses precisely selected detail from the provided sources to support the analysis. • Makes a critical evaluation of the representation based on precisely selected information about the period in question and applying at least three criteria, e.g. the author’s purposes or objectivity, or the comprehensiveness and/or accuracy of the representation. • Writing is clear and organised. Good spelling & grammar. Precisely selected historical terms.

  5. Feedback on mock B(ii) • Go through marksheme and marking sheet. • Powerpoint feedback • Show answers – penultimate paragraph from Natalia. • CompleteTargets.

  6. A) Provide an overall impression of the source related to the l.o.e. • B) Provide inferences and details to reflect the information the source provides about the l.o.e. • C) Comment on accuracy using specific knowledge. 7. Main • Representation 1 is useful because it does provide the historian with information about civilians’ reactions. For example, it suggests (inferences + detail). These inferences do match with my knowledge to an extent. Forexample, (give a specific example – use Impact of the Blitz sheet). Equally, the representation has some other benefits. These include (comment, where possible on TAN + Purpose, complete/partial + objective? positively).

  8. Main cont…. • (New Para) On the other hand, the representation poses problems to the historian enquiring into civilian reactions to World War II.For example, it doesn’t completely fit with my knowledge (explain). In addition, it has other flaws (comment, where possible on TANP, complete/partial + objective? Negatively)

  9. To help with knowledge…. • See impact of the Blitz sheet earlier in books.

  10. Notes on representation 3 • Paragraphs on R3; • Negative first – only if relevant. • Time, Author, Nature & Purpose • Objectivity • Accuracy? • Complete or partial? • Positive - How does it give info to answer the LO? • Annotate and list inference and detail • Time, Author, Nature & Purpose • Objectivity • Accuracy? • Complete or partial?

  11. Show past notes on B(ii) • Pupils make notes on R3

  12. Home Learning • Word process notes on representation 3. Write notes on Intro and Conclusion (see subsequent slides to help).

  13. Introduction • Summarise how the past is represented in each source – describe overall reaction and what element(s) of the war the reaction is to. • Evaluate the representation’s usefulness using criteria (change order and wording); • Nature & purpose of the source • Objectivity? • Complete or partial? • Accuracy?

  14. Intro • Representation 1 comments on civilians’ reactions to the Second World war, and more specifically, to the Blitz in a …… manner. Representation 2…… Representation 3…… In order to find out which is the best representation, it is necessary to consider how much information each representation provides about civilians’ reactions as well as whether that information is accurate and reliable. In addition, ……………….has to be borne in mind.

  15. Conclusion • State which is the best and the key reasons why, COMPARING it to the others (e.g. it is more reliable etc….)

  16. Conclusion • In conclusion, The best representation of civilians’ reactions to World War II is…………. This is because it is more……than the others. In addition, (Make other comparisons using information + reliability + accuracy + objectivity + complete/partial)
