  1. Modification to Log-Ampposition measurement in TT2-TT10 BDI day 2003 T Bogey AB/BDI-EM

  2. Outline • TTPOS principle • Recall of problems • Solutions implemented in 2003 • Things to be done for 2004 • Conclusions BDI day 2003

  3. Principle BMU10T PS Trigger TT2 FT16UDC151 FT16UDC211 FT16UDC251 FT16UDC311 FT16UDC346 BPCL101302 FT16UDC368 BPCL102073 BPCL101502 BPCL101902 BPCL102402 BPCL102302 BPCL102573 BPCL102911 BPCL102739 BPCL100208 BPCL102963 BPCL100407 BMU02T Trigger BPCL100509 BPCL100618 SPS TT10 BDI day 2003

  4. Principle BDI day 2003

  5. Recall of problems • Auto trigger BMU10T • Position • Lead ions (stripped) • Radiation damage (102963) • Position signal with no beam • Loading settings when SSC changes • Remote diagnostics BDI day 2003

  6. Auto trigger BMU10Twith lead ions (stripped) • 2002: Auto trigger works with Pb53+ (unstripped) but does not work with Pb82+ (stripped) • 2003: A new electronics for the auto trigger module solved the problem. BDI day 2003

  7. Autotrigger position for BMU10T • 2003 BMU10T • Problem 1013 1015 1019 1020 1023 1024 1025 1027 1029 1030 • 2004 • Solution BDI day 2003

  8. Radiations damages (102963) • The monitor is very close to the dump • During 2002 run ~ 23 E+3 gray on the electronics module • We moved the electronics away from the BPM • No more radiation damage during 2003 (but still a problem on the vertical plane) BDI day 2003

  9. Position signal with no beam • Without beam Log-Amp still gives an output signal • No information of intensity • Autotrigger module gives a hardware interrupt to validate the data • A software algorithm check the data BDI day 2003

  10. Loading settings • When SSC changes MCR have to call experts to load settings • Stephen Jackson has implemented an option on the PCR Operational Software - BI applications web page to help operation • For a new SSC specialist still needed BDI day 2003

  11. BDI day 2003

  12. BDI day 2003

  13. Remote timing diagnostic • Already exists but requires expert • Solution has to be implemented for operators BDI day 2003

  14. Conclusions • TT2/10 experience helps us for TT40/41 CNGS electronics • Each Log-Amp will have its own autotrigger • Position and Intensity available • Possibility to use the same electronics in TT2/10 upgrade BDI day 2003
