  3. OEC- Safety and Emergency Evacuation Procedures Meeting What do you do IMMEDIATELY at the sound of an alarm? STOP what you are doing, Try your darnedest to stay CALM! LEAVE immediately by the nearest and safest exit. ASSIST others, when and if you can do so SAFELY! TAKE keys, purses, wallets, and other portable, important belongings. PROCEED to the appropriate assembly area for further direction. DO NOT re-enter the building unless you hear an “ALL CLEAR!” OEC- Safety and Emergency Evacuation Procedures Meeting

  4. OEC- Safety and Emergency Evacuation Procedures Meeting DUTIES of the HALLWAY CAPTAINS “The Checklist” 1. Wear your safety vest! This identifies you as the CAPTAIN of your area. 2. Calmly communicate the need to evacuate and the proper route to take. OEC- Safety and Emergency Evacuation Procedures Meeting

  5. OEC- Safety and Emergency Evacuation Procedures Meeting DUTIES of the HALLWAY CAPTAINS “The Checklist” 3. Check all classrooms, offices, storage, common areas and restrooms in your hall. FEEL door knobs and doors for heat before opening them.  If you feel heat, smell smoke, or any chemical odors immediately notify • your Utilities Team. • REPORT the location of any injured, trapped, or disabled persons waiting for • rescue to the Search & Rescue Team. • If injuries are severe, immediately dispatch a runner to notify the FIRST AID Team. • CLOSE, but DO NOT • lock the doors • as you clear • office and • classroom • areas. • NOTE any hazardous conditions such as; structural damage, falling hazards, or hazardous spills and report them to the Operations team. • 4.ASSIST Campus Safety in preventing re-entry by non-emergency responders until the building has been deemed safe. ASSIST any persons with disabilities with evacuation so long as doing so does not place the person with disability at risk of greater injury. If further assistance is required once the class has safely evacuated, notify the First Aid team and/or the Search & Rescue Team of the location of that person. 4. Once at the designated gathering assembly area, ACCOUNT for the number of students that were in the class. REPORT current status to your Hallway Captain.
