definition According to the Oxford Dictionary, • Computer - electronic device which is capable of receiving information (data) in a particular form and of performing a sequence of operations in accordance with a predetermined but variable set of procedural instructions (program) to produce a result in the form of information or signals. • Books - written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and bound in covers (Jing Han)

Simteng’s comment I am on the opposition side. I disagree that computers are better than books. The key words are computer and books. According to Oxford Dictionary, the meaning of computer means an electronic device which is capable of receiving information (data) in a particular form and of performing a sequence of operations in accordance with a predetermined but variable set of procedural instructions (program) to produce a result in the form of information or signals. Books mean a written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and bound in covers. I would like to touch on 3 key reasons – Health and well-being, distractions, and reliability.
Continuation of simteng’s comment Firstly- Health and Well-being. Computers are bad because they can harm the human body in all psychological aspects. Mentally, physically, and emotionally. The reason why death rates are going up is because people, especially teenagers, are being taunted, insulted and bullied by others online. Unable to withstand the stress, they commit suicide. This is one typical case.
Continuation of simteng’s comment Another is: People are getting conned and cheated online. The victims went to a networking website and made some new friends whom he/she haven’t seen before. The victims then go out and meet these ‘new friends’ and get killed. Another topic that is related to health and well-being but not to death is- eyesight. We use the computers so much that we get addicted and use it for long periods of time without resting our eyes and in the end, become myopic.
Continuation of simTeng’s comment Secondly-Distractions. When an online assignment is given to us, we use the computer to complete the task. Sometimes, people cannot resist the temptation and go to another website, like YouTube, to entertain themselves for a moment and forget about the task in the end.
Continuation of simteng ’s comment Thirdly- Reliability. Not everything on the net can be trusted. When substantial facts are needed, hard-copy books are always best. However, if you need facts and evidence at a last minute call, you still can tap on online resources, but only sites with registered content can be trusted. In conclusion, I think books are better than computers as they are more substantial than computers information. These data can be removed at any time and also put back up again, but information from books will always be there. This is my stand for the opposition.
